The Erasmus+ Co-funded project GAP, Games for Participatory Tourism (project n.  2021-1-DE02-KA220-VET-000027985) dives into the heart of its activities with the participatory labs, which will allow the discovery of the city of Palermo through urban games and gamification!

After being involved in an urban game focused on sustainable and participatory tourism in the magnificent city of Prague, the project partners have gathered the necessary information to replicate what they learned and adapt the principles of gamification to develop an urban game in their own cities. Thus, between the end of August and September, 5 encounters will be held in Palermo, involving local stakeholders, tour guides, and tour operators from the area. The aim of these participatory labs is to combine the theories of gamification with the principles of sustainable and participatory tourism, providing tour guides and sector operators with innovative and free tools to engage tourists in discovering the city they are visiting.

The participatory labs will be developed by each project partner, creating various and unique Urban Games, exploring different cities across Europe.

The Urban Game will take place through the streets of Palermo and will interact with an application (SEPPO) to provide players with both a physical and digital experience. The participatory labs will involve tourism sector operators interested in learning more about participatory and sustainable tourism and how to enhance participatory processes through gamification.
